Wedding DJ notes

We attended an amazing wedding this past weekend!
Got some great shots and were able to enjoy great music from live bands and a DJ.

We also were able to observe a few pointers that could of improved the live DJ set.

Here are a few new tips we observed from DJ'ing a wedding:

1. Know your crowd!
Very important to know your target audience! Especially on a momentous occasion like a wedding.
You must be able to understand what the crowd wants to hear. If you are playing after a live mexican mariachi band don't transition the music to hip hop or electro. Keep the crowd dancing to the same beat. Then you can start building up to different music after a few songs.

2. Play edit version of music if kids are presented. You dont have to stay away from the hot new single just because it filled with explicit language. Just make sure you have an edited version of it.

3. Find out if you will be the announcer for all the activities like the throwing of the bouquet. If you are then you need to be energetic and fun.
*P.S. Beyonce's "all the single ladys" track makes an awesome background song for calling up the girls that are up for catching the bouquet..

4. Have an entrance theme song prepared for the bride and groom.

5. Make sure you are packing the right equipment. Sometimes live bands can outplay the DJ by being louder with their instruments or just having louder speakers in general. So make sure your not burned by the mariachi.

Thats all for now. Share any side notes that any of you have noted in the comment box below :)
